Easy Painted Quote Sign

If you're looking for inspiration to brighten up your room or office then look no further. This bright and lively quote sign is the perfect thing and so easy to make yourself. Just follow the tutorial below to make one of your very own and it'll brighten up even the gloomiest of Monday mornings.

What you need:

Canvas

Paints

Brushes

Washi tape

Scissors

Pen

Here's what you do:

I used a flat canvas which you can pick up at any arts and crafts store or if you would prefer to use something you already have then a piece of stiff cardboard will do the job.

Begin by using washi tape to write the main part of your quote so that when you paint over it, it will remain white underneath. 

Once finished with that then you can start painting. I chose two really bright colors (red and yellow) and a colder color to set them off (aquamarine). You can paint in whatever pattern you want. I didn't have to wait for one color to dry before moving onto the next as I wanted to blend the colors a bit but if you don't want your colors to mix then I recommend that you paint one color and then wait for it to dry before painting the next.

When all of the paint is dry and you're happy with your design then carefully peel away the washi tape to reveal your message underneath which should now pop against the bright colors around it.

I made a "Life" quote but you can use any quote you want or just make one up like I did. Just look at how well the white letters stand out against the colorful background.

All that's left to do now is finish your quote off by writing the rest on with a pen. I use a fineliner and tried my hand at new font that I found online. I think it turned out pretty well if I do say so myself.
